Aimee is getting the tap.
I have to wait outside while they get her ready. I'm a bundle of
nerves so this gives me something to do. I am the only person here.
She will get cleaned up, then get a shot, then they'll insert the
needle. When she's safely numbed they will come get me. Wish I could
be in there now. The nurses are nice and said they will help me take
photos.

At the hospital
Valet'ed the car and checked in. We're on the unit now and Aimee is
back with the nurses doing preliminary stuff. I, of course, am told to
just wait. We're the only ones here. It's strange. Quiet. Surreal?
Just for me, maybe. Couldn't sleep. So I just put my ear to Aimee's
shoulder and counted her heartbeats; rested my palm on her belly so I
could feel the little Boogiddybu kick and squirm. He's ready! I think
he was twisting into a new position, looking for another way out of
there! He's been head-down so long with no result. Soon, Little Man!
Soon! Oh good another couple just showed up. Starting to feel more
like a hospital and less like a David Lynch movie. More later...!

Ultrasound, Oct. 14, 2009
Well. That was a bit odd!! We were thinking that, at 36 weeks, we'd
get our clearest look yet at our little Boogiddybu. But that was not
the case! The Ultrasoundologist (?) told us it is always hard to make
out the baby at this phase. He's turned downward!! And the placenta
seems to be blocking the view a little. In any case he's doing
beautifully! He weighs 6 lbs 8 oz (about a half pound ahead of his
class) and he's very active and his heart is pumping away and healthy.
We are now waiting to see the doctor for a routine checkup. I read
that he will grow an ounce a day from here on out, and as of next week
he will be (technically) considered to be "full-term"... We can't wait
to meet him but are content to let the bun bake fully! Tommy and Judy
came up last weekend and once I get some pics fro Judy I will post
them here.

29-Weeks-And-5-Days Ultrasound!
Well, THAT was cool. I told the nice technician that I really needed to video the ultrasound (for Judy!) and she said okay but let her do her work first... which was, of course, fine. She seemed to like how into it we were and so she also did one of those 3D imaging things. We could actually see our little boy's face. WOW. As you will see in the photos below he's stuck with my big ole ginormous lips! And looking like he's going to be blessed with Aimee's big beautiful eyes.
(Note: Click on the images for larger versions.)
In the video, she basically pans down the length of his body starting up at the head. She pauses when she gets to his torso and you will see his bones developing around the ribcage and then you can watch his heart beating. Then she goes on to his legs and changes the angle so you can see the bottoms of his two little feet. I've said it before, but I could watch that for hours and hours on end. (I've already watched the video several times....heh!)
In any case the doctor's appointment went very well. Aimee is still the model of a perfect pregnancy. EVERYTHING is fine and perfect. Although Aimee must be sick of hearing it, the doctor did, in fact, confirm everyone's observations. This is a big baby, y'all.
